August 13, 2023 Purpose The Youth & Young Adult Ministry Coordinator (YMC) will be responsible for planning and coordinating meaningful and relevant high school youth and young adult activities and events, which provide opportunities for spiritual growth, faith development, fellowship and fun.
Functions and activities should equip our youth and young adults to develop a lifelong pattern of going to Scripture for answers, maintaining Christian fellowship, living out God's purpose through serving, going to God in prayer and having joy from belonging to God and living His Will.
Position Summary The YMC will be directly responsible to the head of staff and secondarily to the Session via the Christian Education/Nurturing (CE) and Personnel, Stewardship & Finance (PSF) Commissions.
Responsibilities Coordinate weekly youth group and young adult meetings.
Include retreats, annual mission trips, service projects and other special events that provide opportunities for greater depth and community outreach in youth activities.
Help lead Confirmation and encourage youth to assist with Vacation Bible School programs with you.
Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers on youth ministries and other ministries of the church.
Create and encourage opportunities to attract new youth into our youth ministry program.
Coordinate a team of adult volunteers, mentors and role models.
Encourage and utilize the gifts and talents of congregational members to assist with youth activities and events.
Attend functions supportive of senior high youth ministry.
Effectively communicate information about youth programs in a timely manner to youth, parents and congregation.
Ensure that the youth social media pages are maintained.
Meet regularly with head of staff and youth ministry team.
As a team, develop goals and long term plans for growth of youth and young adult ministry.
Manage the annual operating budget that supports the Youth Ministry through the CE Coordinator, in cooperation with CE.
Coordinate, promote and manage fundraising for Youth Mission Trips.
Prepare the Youth Ministries section of the church annual report.
Required Qualifications Person of Christian faith and character; accept and practice Christian ministry within the traditions, tenets and government of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Effective written and oral communication skills, including computer literacy Participation in the life of our congregation, including Sunday worship and CE Commission Successful completion of criminal background check Desired Qualifications Prior experience leading youth ministry programs Bachelor's degree preferred Compensation Salary - $10,000 for 20 weeks beginning August 13, 2023 with possible renewal 1/1/2024 To apply for this position, please send the following by e-mail no later than July 31, 2023 to Julie Giltner, Christian Education elder, FPC Puyallup at toddandjulie.
