Payroll Specialist

Position
Summary:
Prepares and processes monthly payroll for an estimated 500 employees at various locations (7) and states and Canada.
Essential Duties/
Responsibilities:
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processing accurately and timely
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Audits hours to confirm compliance with state and federal laws/regulations and company policy.
Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
Verifies wage and deduction calculations, making appropriate corrections, to ensure accuracy of payroll.
Process correct garnishment calculation and compliance, including responding to proper authorities within time frame mandated
Verifies employee data including personal information, job title, department, etc. are updated correctly
Administers direct deposit program, including submitting pre-notes to the bank.
Prepares and issues payroll and supplemental checks.
Generates and maintains monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll reports
Initiates resolution of ADP issues by contacting the appropriate parties to ensure that all issues are resolved and payroll process is accurate.
Manages payroll for Canadian employees.
Reconciles reports received from Canadian payroll service and generates journal entry into the general ledger.
Consults with Human Resource (HR) staff to resolve any discrepancies. Assists HR and employee requests as needed.
Education Requirements:
Associates Degree or higher preferred
CPP certification or equivalent - preferred, but not required
Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
Two years of corporate payroll experience
Extensive experience with ADP - currently using Workforce Now 2.0. Reporting skills a must.
Knowledge of multi-state laws and regulations, in regard to wages and benefits.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
