The Power Services Group is looking for a Power Project Engineer with program management expertise to support the replacement of the existing Power Systems as well as Special Projects support to improve the simplicity, reliability, and availability of such systems. The Successful Candidate will: Perform facility electrical inspections on the power systems installed or modified by the Power Systems Group for compliance with the applicable FAA orders and directives. Review engineering packages and submittals provided by FAA contractors and vendors. Complete written responses and track action items associated with the action items identified while performing facility inspections and site visits. Participate in the review and revisions of FAA power orders and specifications as requested. Prepare briefings and white papers on a variety of power related issues that need to be briefed and reported to upper FAA management and executives. Prepare technical document requirements and develop training requirements related to power systems that are being fielded. Additionally, this may include development of course material for NFPA part 70 (NEC) or other materials as requested by the FAA. Participate in the review and rewriting of power systems related orders, standards and specifications. Coordinate a wide variety of program management activities with FAA Organizations, Contractors, local authorities and the program office in the design, acquisition, implementation, project close out, testing and evaluation as tasked by the program manager.
Qualifications:
Ability to prepare engineering reports, engineering evaluations, white paper positions, develop training requirements and cost comparative analyses. Ability to assess inefficiencies in power systems that have been modified over time and have become poor performers. Individual must be able to develop an action plan that can improve the facility performance and reliability to support FAA Air Traffic Operations without loss of service. Must have a strong background with FAA General National Air Space (GNAS) and Enroute systems used to support FAA air traffic operations in terminal and enroute operations. Must be able to travel to facilities within the continental US (CONUS), the territories of the US, Guam and Puerto Rico. Have six or more years of experience with electrical power systems design, review, inspections, and training development. Ability to travel Master's degree in Engineering Management, Program Management or Construction Management from an accredited university or college is preferred. Experience in implementation and inspections of the following power service critical power systems: Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Air Route Traffic Control Center Critical Essential Power Systems (ACEPS), NAS radial systems. An in-depth understanding of en-route and terminal NAS operations, FAA field operations, Service Area Organizations and Headquarters Operations Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority.
